Song Of The Day: Katy Perry- "The One That Got Away"

Unbelievable.

For those of you that have been keeping up, this is now the sixth (6th) official single released from Katy Perry's album Teenage Dream.  The first single from that album, "California Gurls," was released 17 months ago, last May.  This one is currently beginning a slow climb up the charts.  I don't think it will come close to the heights reached by the first five singles off Teenage Dream, which ALL reached #1, but as I've learned over the last year or so, you can't count out Katy Perry.  But I'm not sure I like this move by her label- unless this goes to #1, it will somewhat tarnish the legacy of Teenage Dream by ruining its perfect 5-for-5 streak.  Still, I can't fault Capitol Records here; they're just trying to squeeze a few more bucks out of the most productive album in 25 years.

Oh, and the actual song?  It's nothing special, but it's more than decent.  The lyrics are specific- "We used to steal your parents' liquor and climb to the roof, think about our future like we had a clue," and the melody is pleasing yet thought-provoking.  But it's not nearly as memorable (for better or for worse) as the other singles off Teenage Dream.  Or even some of the album tracks...
