This was basically the first time the Houston rap scene hit the mainstream, and it was never hotter than right around that time...especially once "Ridin' Dirty" hit #1. But this song was definitely the biggest jam when it came out. Just an all-around classic music video...everything I look for in a rap video essentially.

Friday Throwback Jam Of The Day: This Link
Want a Friday Throwback Jam? How 'bout six? Check 'em out here, in my newest column for cherryontop.com. This may seem like a cop-out, but trust me, six jams are better than one!

Friday Night Throwback Jam Of The Week: Lil Scrappy feat. Lil Jon- "Gangsta Gangsta"
In honor of this being our 100th post, and in honor of me getting my second feature article on cherryontop.com, I present to you quite possibly my favorite Throwback Jam of all time.
If you read this blog closely, you'll notice I just linked to this song a couple of days ago. Well, today it gets a post of its own. If you ever need a workout song, you really can't get do better than this. I can't think of another song where a rapper gives us so many examples of how he's a gangsta. My favorite, though, has to be "I hit the mall by myself, the hood by myself, when I'm in LA I rock the khakis with the belt...I'm so gangsta I eat cereal without the milk." How do ANY of those things make you gangsta? Whatever. This song goes hard. And the video, of course, makes it even better. When he makes the police car explode right in front of the astonished skaters, I stood up and applauded. Anyway, if you don't jam out to this song this weekend, you're a scrub. End of story.

Friday Throwback Jam Of The Week: Huey feat. Bow Wow & T-Pain- "Pop, Lock, and Drop It"
I say this every Friday, but: damn, this is a straight-up jam! Yes, this is the remix, and they never made a real video for it, but the remix is so much better than the original (thanks to T-Pain) that I had to do this one. Just sit back and enjoy the girls wearing baggy jeans, the obviously rented-for-one-day cars, and the bros doing the airplane dance in an empty pool. Oh, and have a good weekend!

Friday Night Throwback Song Of The Day: Young Dro- "Shoulder Lean"
Oh, MAN. Turn the bass up on this one and let ya shoulder lean. I bet you forgot about this one, huh? Well I sure didn't. I've been bumpin' this one since t came out in '06. I'm not even sure what the best line is in this one- "Everybody know me in the club cause they smokin' me," "Then I pimp a ho, take a bitch to Berlin," "Hood n***a from Bankhead, I stay by Grandma Nana, I lay by my banana, dumpin' and punkin' monkeys, Don't nobody live with my mom but a bunch of junkies..." Oh wait, it's obviously the last one. Top-notch lyricism there from the ludicrously named Young Dro.
I mean, I wonder how much weed you have to smoke to decide to make your stage name Young Dro. I hope it's a ton, cause otherwise it would be kinda lame. Nonetheless, this is a banger of the first degree.
